Corporate Responsibility

E.T. Jackson and Associates takes its own corporate responsibility seriously.

Internally, we are strongly committed to gender equality. In our head office and project sites, women play prominent roles as senior consultants, administrators, field project managers and technical specialists.

Perhaps more than most firms in the international-development field, our company first looks to developing country personnel to staff our projects, both long-term and short-term. Our ratio of local staff to foreign personnel is among the highest in our field. We believe this approach contributes to building strong professional sectors in poor countries, while it makes our work more effective.

E.T. Jackson and Associates Ltd. is fully committed to environmental sustainability. We operate a comprehensive re-use and recycling program in our headquarters in Ottawa, Canada. We are increasingly seeking ways of reducing our carbon footprint, by using teleconferencing, videoconferencing and multi-site project management software to minimize our air travel. It is our practice to buy local products and foods in support of meetings and other activities in Canada and abroad.

Our company was a signatory to the declaration of the United Nations Earth Summit in 1992. Jackson and Associates is an associate member of Canadian Business for Social Responsibility, and a professional member of the Social Investment Organization in Canada. Our associates have carried out consulting assignments on corporate social responsibility in countries in Asia and Africa.

At the same time, Jackson and Associates runs an active corporate giving program. In recent years, we have provided cash donations as well as in-kind support to the following groups, among others:

  • Black Affinity (Carleton University)
  • Bempong Foundation
  • Bob Hale Memorial Fund
  • Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada
  • Diamond Development Initiative
  • Douglas Coldwell Foundation
  • Ghana Institute for Policy Alternatives
  • Habitat for Humanity (Urbana Gala)
  • Institute of African Studies (Carleton University)
  • Osu Children’s Library Fund
  • Participatory Development Forum
  • Peacefund Canada Foundation
  • Rise and Flow Camp (Carleton University)
  • Straightgoods electronic newspaper
  • Unifem Canada
  • VON Canada
  • Women’s Worlds Congress 2011
  • St. Joe’s Women’s Centre

We are convinced, more than ever before, that corporate social responsibility must be the way of the future. We are committed to doing as much as we can to advance CSR both inside our organization and in the broader networks in which we operate.
